Honoring Our Heroes: Troy’s Ram Hunt

SFC Troy Sherman, U.S. Army (Ret.) A lifelong outdoorsman from Norfolk, Nebraska, Troy Sherman joined the U.S. Army straight out of high school in 1996 and served his country for 23 years. During his distinguished career, he completed four deployments to Afghanistan, served in Romania, Africa, and across Europe, and retired in 2019 as a Sergeant First Class and recipient of two Bronze Stars.

Through Under One Flag, Troy was honored with the third and final Ram Hunt generously donated by Clyde America Exotics. It was a privilege to host him in the Texas brush country and to thank him for his years of sacrifice and service.

Thank you for your service, Troy.

The background shows leafless trees with a few yellowing leaves, indicating an autumn setting.

Honoring Our Heroes: Bruce’s Rockin DK Ranch Hunt

“Bruce has been through so much, yet he never complained. He simply kept going.”

Bruce Aliff’s wife nominated him because she knew he needed a break, even though he never would have asked for one himself. To their surprise, he was selected.

Bruce is a disabled Army veteran who served in the early 1980s and was injured during a nighttime HALO parachuting accident. Despite the challenges he faced, he spent his life putting others first and quietly carrying on.

This past year had been especially hard on the Aliff family, but Bruce never stopped moving forward. He rarely took time for himself, finding joy in the simple things like watching Carl Higbie, with his wife often recording episodes so he wouldn’t miss them.

Thanks to the incredible generosity of Rockin DK Ranch, Bruce was given an unforgettable experience filled with appreciation, kindness, and joy. Meeting Carl Higbie made the moment even more special.

For a man who has spent his life serving others and asking for nothing in return, this was more than just a special day; it was a reminder that heroes deserve to be celebrated too.

Two men standing in front of a metal gate with a deer silhouette and the words "Rocking D" cut out of it, outdoors with a clear sky and open fields in the background.
A man smiling outdoors standing behind a large dead antelope or deer with long horns, lying on rocks. The background includes a body of water, a fence, trees, and power lines.
A group of people, including children and adults, sitting at a wooden table outdoors under a covered patio, enjoying food and drinks with a rural landscape and trees in the background.
Group of men in casual outdoor clothing holding a sign supporting military and first responders at an outdoor event on a sunny day, with a dead animal on a stone platform in front of them.
A man in military camouflage pants, a green t-shirt, sunglasses, and a cap stands outdoors smiling behind a dead or injured antelope with large, curved horns, resting on rocks near a water body, under clear blue sky.
A person aiming a rifle at a shooting range, seated at a shooting table with a bag and a backpack nearby, outdoors in a dry, wooded area.
